Ear tubes in adults

Ive had chronic ear issues for the past yr and a half... I got the flu last year and my ears got completely blocked with fluid. In June of last year I had my tonsils and adenoids out, as they were very large and blocked my eustation tubes... Took from June till December or so to have some relief and I was able to hear a little better. In Jan of this yr, I again got sick, and my ears blocked up. Dealt with it for a couple of months in hope that my ears would unblock on their own. With no such luck I again went back to my ENT. He kept bringing up holes in my ear drums which made me nervous so i kept saying no to it. He put me on antibiotics and flonaise, i went back to see him 6 weeks later. Ears only unblocked completely for a week and a half.. dealt with the high pollen and allergies and again fluid in the ears. Tomorrow I go to have tubes put in. I am extremely nervous because I will be awake for the procedure. Any advice as to what I can except, during and after?

Thanks

I had the procedure done today... All went well, Started with the the left ear, put some numbing stuff in there, it was supposed to burn but i had very little burning.. he did the cut, suctioned out some fluid and put the tube in.. the right ear was a little more painful while doing it, but again about 2 or 3 mins on each side, was def something i could handle... immediately both ears unblocked and i can hear everything fine now.. matter of fact im hearing noises that I forgot how they sounded... So all in all tubes worked out great, now I just hope it stays this way.

I can't help with your questions - my hearing losses are due to age.  But I reply to wish you the best and to encourage you to trust yourself and your doctor, you will see/hear improvements.

The procedure is new to me, so I (and others I suspect) will benefit from you letting us know what you learn.

Good luck !
