Liquid Gushed from Tonsils

I had the strangest thing happen to me a few days ago.  Recently, I've been under a period of the utmost extreme stress imaginable.  On this particular day, I became very upset, was about to completely lose it, and experiencing the onset of a full blown, sudden panic attack.  This is when I suddenly felt a "burning/tingling" sensation rush up my neck.  Once this sensation reached my throat, I felt liquid gushing from my left tonsil.  The spots that the liquid had come into contact with suddenly began to burn.  I checked my throat and noticed that tiny, pinpoint blisters/pimples began to form where the burning was.  The blisters/pimples went away very quickly, though my skin was still red & "burning" where the liquid had touched.  The pain was gone the next day and the redness is pretty much gone.  I have a history of tonsil stones and I have been smoking nearly triple the amount that I normally do, due to stress.  Does anyone have any idea what this could've been??  Because I am completely lost!

Well, I'm from Portugal, I'm 36yo male and, for the very first time, I had used a 0,5mg oxymetazoline chlorhydrate drug (pharmaceutical suggestion). Untill that day I only used salted products but these congestion was very strong and salted liquid did nothing and I cant sleep at all. I lost my sense of smell and taste immediately after use it. I thought it was temporary issue and they will come back again later. Still used it once again but had to left it after the 2nd use because I understand my sense of smell and taste will never be the same again after those 2 sad days. This was about 3 months ago. Sometimes I can smell and taste a little better but most of the time I can't.

Here in Portugal it calls Nasorhinathiol 0,5mg (Cloridrato de Oximetazolina) and is approved by Infarmed (http://www.infarmed.pt/portal/page/portal/INFARMED/ENGLISH - kind of FDA here in Portugal). If it was not approved by Infarmed I can't even bought it at a pharmacy, so I thought it's safe. It seems not. I'm posting because I couldn't found anything on it's portuguese name (Nasorhinathiol) but found several issues when searching using active substance in english. Hope other people from my country reach this forum and avoid further issues. I can't understand how is this possble nowadays!

It sounds like an abscess drained in your tonsil.  Smoking is extremely bad for your mucus membranes, and you face gum disease and bacteria that will damage your heart for this blatant disregard for your oral health.

I should probably also add that the severe emotional stress has been going on for a month and a half now.  During that time, I have been unable to sleep and eat, just constant chain smoking (I know this is horrible, I've been working on getting my stress under control!).  I had abdominal pain the week prior to this occurrence, my gynecologist gave me a shot of Keflex that day and put me on Flagyl for a suspected Pelvic Inflammatory Disease.  It turned out that nothing was wrong, all cultures came back normal, and the pain was due to digestive issues (eating very poorly, suffer from IBS on top of it).  The day after the Keflex shot, I took 2 Flagyl though had to stop due to adverse reactions.  I had a constant burning sensation in my face and watery diarrhea.  Wondering if maybe this is all somehow related.
