Mastoid Complication...ATFP or Petrous Apex?

Mastoid Complication...ATFP or Petrous Apex?

I am 22 mo post-op a revised mastoidectomy. The first due to cholesteatoma, the second due to a fibrous connective mass. Both rt ear, both w/extensive disease & extreme damage. All remnants removed & hearing lost. Second recovery also complicated by staph infection.

Pre & post-surgical symptoms of CHRONIC head, neck, jaw & ear pain w/migraines for past 12 mo. Elevated wbc & bp since surgery. I have seen 12 medical/dental professionals. Latest diagnosis: ATFP (Presumed by Neurologist to be only superficial nerve damage.)

My research has brought me to the petrous apex. Is it plausible that it may be involved? That perhaps there is entrapment of infection or inflammation? Or would I be more symptomatic? It seems it can be defined w/proper imaging. What particular imaging? If not plausible is there another course of treatment that may be explored (besides throwing 1/2 dozen pills at it)? Any input would be appreciated.
