Nasal blockage with wierd taste...

I've had an odd nasal blockage for the last week or so. My left nostril is constantly becoming congested with what can only be described as a thick "ball" of yellow mucus. If I attempt to snort the mucus, and sorry if this sounds disgusting, I get an overpowering weird and disgusting taste in my mouth and throat The taste is unrecognisable and is the worst part - it's really putrid. I've also got pains in my top left teeth, cheekbone and my left eye's feeling congested. Occasionally I get a wierd yellow and water-like solution dripping from my nose.

Also present, but not related as far as I'm aware, is a wierd twitching in the top left of my chest.

Anyone have any idea what this could be?

Sounds like what I have. I was diagnosed with a maxillary sinus infection (hence the pain in the cheek) also on my left side only. I also have the pain around the left eye, above it and below. The left side of my face is constantly swollen also, right under my eye. I totally know what you mean by having both thick mucous and also watery discharge. As far as I know the watery part is allergic rhinitis. I'm really not sure that the sinusitis is bacterial and I do wonder about the possibility of nasal polyps causing a sinus infection. I hope this does not become a chronic problem for you as it has for me.

And btw you're right- the taste and smell is terrible!! This is a sure sign of infection.
