Nose problems

Around this time last year, i was really sick, and there was something going around at the time, so i was tested at the doctors to see if it was whooping cough, it didnt turn out to be, but the test she did, was that she had to stick what looked like an ear cleaner, but it was longer and skinny, up our nose right to the back. It was extremely uncomfortable, it made me start sneezing and made my eyes water. Since then ive been having what seems like hayfever, but i never use to experience hayfever ever. So i dont know whether its something to do with how she did it? Maybe it wasnt actually clean and i have a bad sinus infection, or could it just be hayfever? Its been going on for months now.

Hello and hope you are doing well.

It's unlikely that the infection could last this long due to the procedure. In an entity called allergic rhinitis, the symptoms are similar to a common cold, but they are usually more persistent and show seasonal variation. The individual responds to an allergen, which can be in many forms like dust and household mites. It appears that you are suffering from such a phenomenon.

Try to maintain an allergen-free environment. Substitute all synthetic and cool materials with cotton ones. Remove all dust-collecting household articles like carpets, bedspreads etc. Alternatively an allergy specialist may try to identify the offending allergen and try to desensitize you.

Using low dose steroidal nasal sprays, are very effective. The steroid in the spray is very low and acts only locally. Two puffs in each nostril two times a days for about a month. The effect starts only after 2weeks of therapy.

Once an attack has occurred, the antihistamines like chlopheneramine, lovatidine are effective. Nasal decongestant drops too relieve congestion.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

It could be that, hard to say.  Make an appointment with an ENT, as to avoid any awkwardness with the possibility that it was caused by the "probe".
