Soapy, Perfume Taste in Mouth
What causes you to have a soapy, kind of perfume taste in your mouth?  It is driving me crazy. Plus, my tongue has been getting sore and swelling. It will turn beet red  and get very thick. It is very irritating.

Hello and hope you are doing well.

Tongue irritation could be due to local or systemic causes. Local causes like tooth infections, tooth abscess or periodontal disease. Some medications like dilantin and calcium channel blockers like nifedipine can cause these symptoms. It can also occur due to salivary gland disorders like Sjogren's syndrome, where there is inadequate secretion of saliva and tongue irritation. You will need to consult your dentist who will examine you and determine the cause so that appropriate therapy can be initiated.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
