Sudden burning when drinking pop or beer

I got sick about a month ago and assumed it was only a sinus infection which I have Chronic Sinusitis and I usally do not take antibiotics for it because when I go off of them it will just come back but, this time it was horrible and I had a presc. for 40 Augmentin so I took them.  After 3 weeks I still wasn't better and went to the dr.  I had sinusitis and Bronchitis and was put on Zithromax.  It has now been over a month and I still have a cough and for about 3 weeks when I drink pop or beer it burns from the tip of my tongue to my stomache.  Spicy foods do not do it and neither does orange juice.   I am a frequent pop drinker and I have never had this happen or heard of it.  Any ideas what it might be?
Thanks
