a swollen lymph node for months now that gets smaller and bigger

i have had a swolen lymph node a lil above my adams apple and i first noticed it about 6 months ago...i feel it everyday....the maximum it has grown has been for 1-1.5 mm and the smallest is less than half a mm...it never goes away...whenever i drink ginger and honey drink it goes very small and whenever i drink alcohol it gets a lil bigger...but never goes away...im only 21 years old male...i showed it to my physician,he said may people have swollen nodes for years and it is quite common,he looked inside my throat and said he saw no lump inside..whenever i swallow i dont feel any lump inside my throat either although a couple of times i do feel that my throat is being narrowed....i have a history of moderate smoking but i quit 3 months ago and i do drink mildly, sometimes on the weekends i do drink more than normal...

Find another doctor. Swollen lymph glands usually means you're fighting something. I have same thing going on and nobody has answers yet but I'd say get 2nd opinion
