crackling in ear

I've posted this question before and the problem seemed to go away on it's own but now the problem is back and worse than ever.  THe problem is that I've got crackling in my right ear whenever i yawn or eat.  The ear also itches a lot and I need to stick a Qtip in there to stop it from itching.  The problem started occurring right after I had some hairs removed from the ear which was causing the crackling from before.  I've been very careful to avoid getting any more hairs in my ears so I don't think it's that this time.  I don't want to go back to that same ENT since he basically told me he wouldn't do anything about it because my "ears were too good" to stick tubes in them.  I don't want a tube in my ear, but there ought to be other treatments?!?

I have a pro-bono doctor that I've been seeing for sinusitis (he performed surgery for me), so I am going to call that office tomorrow and see if I can't get something scheduled with him.  But in the mean time if anyone hear has anything helpful to say it would be much appreciated.  Thanks!  ~Adam

THanks Margot for your tips.  I have been using qtips to try and clean deep inside my ear because occasionally it will itch really bad in there (especially since I have to wear earplugs to sleep, as I am super sensitive to noise).  I will try to stop doing that though.  I might try going to a different doctor in a month, but it is really expensive for me since I do not have health insurance :(

Well this may not be much help as you have seen an ENT doc.  This actually sounds like what I had a few months ago and it was driving me nuts.  Went to the ENT doc and he removed som wax way down in my ear and that took care of the crackling sounds.  He also told me not to use Q tips to clean inside my ears.
If you don't care for the doctor you saw then do see another.  I've probably seen half a dozen that still can't give a diagnosis.
Good luck
