deviated septum

I got in to see the ENT dr a week ahead of schedule. I have chronic sinusitis, scars on both ears from past infections, and "fairly severe deviated septum,". He had trouble getting the scope up my nose, had to go to a smaller one. He put me on a "push" of prednisone, antibiotics, and Nasonex. Also scheduled a CT scan of sinus's in a month to see if infection is gone. Then he said we would decide what to do. My sx were a constant drippy nose, pressure in ears, headaches. The general sx's of sinus infection. But it souns like the severe deviated septum is the cause of this, not primarily bacterial. Will this probably mean surgery? Websites make it sound simple, out-pt treatment. Would like to have the real scoop from real people who have had this done. I'm not looking to beautify my nose, just be able to breath thru it, not snore, and not constantly blowing it. I would appreciate any input. Thank you for your help.

Thank you for your reply. Hum.love the visual image of that one LOL!  But the rest didn't sound too bad. Would love to be able to breath, and not bend over & drip on everything!

I have had this surgery done twice.  My last one was 10 years ago.  It was an out-pt.  I think I was there a total of 12 hours.  So, it is a long day.  But, most of it you won't remember because you will be asleep.
Not sure if they had changed the procedure much.   But, I will tell you that when I came out it look like I had 2 tampons sticking out of my nose.  They weren't in there long.  Oh I wish I could remember how long but, I don't think it was a week.  But, once they take them out and you take your first real breath it is AMAZING!
I had chronic sinusitis and now I might have 1 sinus infection a year. If that much.
I hope this helps.
