I would go see a pcp if I had the money to do so. I have no insurance and and my husband just had a heart attack 3 weeks ago and is not working. I did find a job (part time only though). so when this would happen I would have to go to the ER. I was not sick prior to this. I have no cough whatsoever. this all started when the weather turned extremly hot. Mornings are the worst as I feel like my chest is full of the gunk and tight feeling. I am taking loratadine once a day, zantac 75 twice a day, spiriva once a day, nasalcort twice a day. And I do a nasal wash on my own (was not prescribe by dr.). Feels like I got alot of the gunk stuck in the roof of my mouth but not all of the time. It kind of builds up. And then the gunk inthe throat. sometimes it feels like the gunk fromthe roof of my mouth is closing up over my throat and I think I panic and have somekind of an attack. I am just going nuts with this.
The ER's not a great place to get care for your symptoms, a primary care doctor would be a better bet. Post nasal drip doesn't come from GERD, so if your symptoms feel much like dripping in the back of your throat, it's worth going to see a PCP to get more treatment for allergies, and to make sure you don't have asthma (reactive airways disesase) or GERD. Prilosec is over the counter, if you can't get a prescription for prevacid, and acts in the same way.
I am trying to. I have been to er 5 times cause I couldn't breath right. and got 5 different diagnosis. One was chonic bronchitis...next was asthma....pharyngitis.....allergies and now gerd. Well I have no cough whatsoever. It all start out as post nasal drip and then it felt like there was alot of mucus in my throat and my air got shut off. Chest xrays and lab work came back just fine. the chronic bronshitis and asthma answer just didn't make sense since I have no cough at all and my chest xrays came back fine. I am really worried and at my wits end.
I don't know if you have gotten any relief from your problem, but yes sounds like GERD to me also know as Acid Reflux Disese I have it, and don't get the heartburn real bad but the feeling of something stuck in my throat and a very hard feeling of swallowing sometimes, but I have a prescription for Prevacid and works great! Hope that you feel better soon, and get to the bottom of your problem soon, TgirlGage
Sure sounds like it, You dont have to have heartburn to have gerd. feeling like something is stuck in you throat is another very common symptom. Check out the gerd/acidreflux boards. I think you'll be surprised at some of the symptoms. You should try otc Prilosec for now and see if that helps.
Good luck, Helen
