throat mystery: 7 weeks of odd symptoms

All of these symptoms have been going on for about seven weeks now:

White mucus running down the back of my throat. Post nasal drip?
The back inch of my tongue is discoloured - mostly white.
There are growths or lesions on both of my palatine tonsils.
My circumvallate papillae will sometimes will sometimes protrude or swell.
My ears often contain fluid. I use a Q-Tip to clean them two or three times a day.
My throat often feels quite dry, and swallowing can be difficult. I find relief by constantly drinking water. Sometimes this wakes me up at night.
It's difficult to describe the sensation in my throat, but I can feel a cooling or burning deep below the back of my throat.

There is no pain. It does not feel like a sore throat. I do not have a fever. No congestion. I was on Penicilin VK for 10 days, to no effect. My doctor wants to wait two months before sending me to a specialist. I have no idea what is going on, so I don't know what I can do to take care of it. I'm worried that it will continue to get worse over time. Thank you for any help.

Hello and hope you are doing well.

Your symptoms could be due to a sinus infection, a cold or a chronic allergy. It can lead to a post nasal drip and lead to an irritation in the throat. It could be sinusitis, if it is accompanied by nasal stuffiness and facial pain or pressure. Post nasal drip could also be due to allergens. You will need to consult your primary care physician for proper assessment. In the meantime practice good breathing exercises, humidify your room and do steam inhalations.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
