Tonsils

by twilightgirl, Oct 28, 2008 01:52PM
Ever since I can remember my tonsils are different. they seem to me to be fairly round but with almost craters indented in them. and those craters secrete a pale yellow bead like objects that are in the shape of the craters. they smell rancid and when they fall out or i force them out my tonsils tend to bleed a little bit. Also when there is one there are more that follow and continue to come out of the tiny tonsil. this is also predominately on the right tonsil. My father said he has been known to have this happen as well but not as often as mine.

I am not sure of your question, however, tonsilliths can form in patients from there being crypts (the "craters" you describe) that catch food contents and secretions.  Gargling and rinsing your mouth to try to clean out these pockets in your tonsils can be helpful.  Sometimes, removal of the tonsils is needed.  A visit to your ent can help to solidify the diagnosis and help monitor your progress.  Good luck.

Once I found out what the specifics I read up a little, and it sounds like tonsillar keratosis and I also found an entire paragraph describing exactly what I have been trying to decode for a few years now.

thanks so much and I will mention this to my dr. on my next visit.
