What would cause pressure without pain?

For the past few weeks I've been having pressure in the area of my maxillary sinuses, and my ears feel very clogged, but there has been no pain associated with the pressure. There has also been a low-level ringing in my ears. I have looked into tinnitus, but I can't seem to find anything that combines it with pressure. I have been using a neti pot for the pressure, which seems to help for an hour or so, but then I feel the pressure in my ears again. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Any type of irritation or inflammation in the nose can lead to a decrease in the drainage of the sinuses or a sensation of increased pressure within them.  In addition, these same processes can effect the back of the nose, where the eusacian tube opens.  This tube regulates pressure in the middle ear.  If there is dysfunction in the mechanism of this tube (eustacian tube dysfunction), the ears can feel plugged and congested.  It is possible to get tinnitus with eustactian tube dysfunction.  Trying to decrease the inflammation within the nose is helpful.  Understanding the cause (anything from an upper respiratory infection, sinus infection, reflux, allergies, nasal mass, etc) makes treatment more targeted.  With some of these causes, using nasal sprays (saline, steroid, decongestant)  with oral decongestants can be helpful--but only if you have evaluated the cause and are sure these items are an adequate treatment.  If you have had continued problems, you should see a physician.  Good luck.

One other thing...different medications require a prescription or a review of your current medications and medical problems to make sure that there are no interactions or contraindications.
