After Strep Throat

I was diagnosed with Strep Throat about 2 weeks ago. I went one week taking Amoxicillin 3 times a day. By the next Monday, I was worse. I called my doctor, who changed me to Azithromycin. My laryngitis is better. Most of the sore throat is gone. However, I still have sore swollen glands, and I still have a large white pocket in my throat (Next to my Faucial Pillars). Is this typical? How long should I give it for the white patch and gland stuff to go away?

It can also come from minute pockets (crypts) in the pharyngeal wall (called Keratosis pharyngis) Usually it is present always, and not only at the time of infection.

I forgot to say I had no tonsils. Does that make a difference? Hard yellowish particles did come out of them today....but they are still yellowish/white....

It may be keratin debris in the tonsillar crypt? Since the inflammation is just on its way out, I would suggest gargles with warm saline.

If there is no inflammation or pain, try to 'express' it out and gargle again.

The cervical lymph nodes will take a few more days to go away. Can't say, maybe some were there already before you had this infection?
