Diagnosed with Geographic Tongue

Hi, I was diagnosed with having GT this week after visiting many doctors and my dentist. GP first thought it was burning mouth sydrome as my tongue looked normal to her. I finally decided to pay privately and saw an Oral Maxillofacial Specialist who told me right away I had GT. Mine started almost immediately after I was orally intimate with a guy. Within 15 minutes the tip of my tongue was burning. The next morning it was coated white and sore.

A couple of weeks later ulcers started to form inside my cheeks and my entire mouth was painful. The ulcers have gone now but the pain and tenderness still remain. The burning on my tongue and the white coating has never gone away. I've been tested for sexually transmitted infections, vitamin defincies etc and all have come back negative. It was only this week after seeing the Specialist that I got a diagnosis. He said the friction from the oral encounter is what triggered my GT as it damaged the protective lining in my mouth like a snake shedding its skin.

I am wondering, has anyone else gotten GT after an intimate oral encounter? I've been googling like crazy and I've never read of GT being diagnosed after oral intimacy. I recently joined a GT support group and uploaded pictures of my tongue. Many members said that my tongue did not look like GT. My tongue is mostly coated white with a pinkish area on the tip that is not coated. The coating has not moved in the 5 months since ive been experiencing symptoms but the pain does move to different areas of my mouth daily. Other members advised that symptoms arose too quicky for it to be GT and that GT is an autoimmune disorder so i would not have gotten it from this encounter.

I've tried treatments for thrush and oral herpes but these did not help. Could it be the case that I have damaged the surface of the tongue and lining of my cheeks without it being GT? Maybe an alergic reaction to something but i cant think what. I am at a loss. I would appreciate any feedback as I am really low at the moment. Thanks.
