I'm sorry you don't feel well. I think we just have to scrape by sometimes, hanging by our fingernails, keeping in mind that it may be better tommorrow. Have you had a VNG by an audiologist? That will hopefully distinguish central from peripheral problems. Any changes in hearing, other than the sound in your ears (tinnitus)? Some meds actually cause dizziness and tinnitus, and even some dizziness meds prolong your dizziness by suppressing the central nervous system and not letting it do its job of naturally balancing itself. If your ENT is well respected, that is great, but it doesn't mean he specializes in vestibular disorders. They would probably be mad that I said it, but I did:) You may want to try a balance/vestibular clinic, where they specialize in this subject. Some are too quick to refer to physical therapy when they don't even know what the problem is. I have a friend with vertigo right now who quit his physical therapy due to being made to run sprints and he ended up vomiting. How does running sprints help vertigo?! Anyway, I'll get off that soap box.
Do you feel like you are spinning or the world is spinning around you?
What, if any, diagnosis have they given you? Physical therapy had to have one to bill your insurance...
How long has this been going on?
Does it get worse or better when you close your eyes?
Does it get worse if you roll over in bed, or make other movements like looking up, down, etc?
As you probably know, dizziness is very elusive and difficult to diagnose, sometimes you'll never find out what is wrong, but it is usually temporary. I was dizzy for about three months and was miserable. I feel your pain. I know alot about this subject and I couldn't get diagnosed either. I essentially diagnosed myself:(
I am very much in the beginning stages of figuring out what is going on. I have seen an ENT and Nuerologist and NOTHING! I can't keep asking my husband to come home because I can't take care of the children, drive and barely move at all. Any sounds bother me, and I have a weird Tshc sound in my ears, kind of like crickets I guess. I have taken A ton of different meds, did some table tipping thing, and have been through Physical therapy with eye movement exercises. I am going to make another appointment with my ENT. I swear he thinks I am crazy and he is a very well respected ENT. Thank you for your support, but really how do you simply live with whatever this is. It is affecting my children too, and I only have one shot at raising them.
Oh dear, please know that you CAN take it longer. You doubt your ability to deal with this, but I promise, you can survive it and you can get better. It is only temporary. We all have our good days and some bad, been there and done that. Dizziness has alot of causes and it can be stressful. I had viral labyrinthitis for several months about five years ago and it was not fun, but I havent' had that since. I don't know any of your background info, but send me a message and I'll see if I have any info. to help..
