Lump on 7yr old neck for 4 months

My 7 yr old daughter developed a lump in her neck just behind her scm on the left side of her neck.
Four months ago I took her to the pediatrician about it and he told me it was nothing kids have lumps.
I took her to a different pediatrician last week and he said it needed to be checked immediately as it has hardened and it not painfull at all to my daughter.
We seen a ear, nose and throat specialist on friday and he told me that it needs to come out asap.
He said there is a possibility it is lymphoma.
Could you tell me what texture this type of lump has to be, hard or soft, painless, painfull etc.... which would lead him to think it could be lymphoma.

A very concerned parent.

Please tell me the results of the biopsy.  My 13 year old son has three swollen lymph nodes on his neck for a week now.  (softish but still firm to the touch, they seem to have grown in size in a week) he had a few small patches of rash like symptoms (eczema-like, reddish & dry skin scaly) on his upper chest near his neck for the last two months also.  Occasionally he has recently complained of headache, fatigue and nausea/queasiness...It seems to come on suddenly after I pick him up from school. He has some allergies; including an allergy to tree pollen which happens to be prevalent these days.  Don't know if any of these vague symptoms are independent of each other or related to one cause.  Am really worried about the potential for something seriously wrong...His Pediatrician said he didn't think it was cause for concern but suggested we watch him closely and check for hardening of the nodes...Hoping for good results for your child and mine...Best, Cristy

Just go! stop wondering aobut what this doctor said or that doctor said that.. have it biopsied for peace of mind. It may be nothing, my doctor would say she had an infection in that lymph node and it swelled and stayed that way, or the infection is localized there. Either way, if she has had antiboitics and it is still there have it checked. I know its scary but the imagination can be scarier.
