PLEASE HELP-Food/lump stuck in thoat over 2 weeks

I have had the feeling that food is stuck in my throat, or there is a lump for over 2 weeks.  It is only on the left side, and I feel like I am going to go crazy soon.  I have seen an ENT who put a scope down my nose, has a long look and said nothing was there (that was Tuesday).  Yesterday I got an xray of my throat and that doctor said that there were nothing on the xray.  I feel as though I am gagging on this.  I am sooooooooo sick of this, the doctor that it is too long to be a virus, and I have no other symptoms of a viral illness. So he just sent me home, just like the other doctor, and they both shrugged their shoulders.  Can anyone help with this.  The ENT is away on holiday next week.  I am at a loss..................

Hi, I can only sympathise, as I've had a strip of apple peel lodged in my trachea for 3 months now. Had camera down my nose/throat three times and they couldn't see anything. I now believe it must be lodged beneath my vocal cords, which would explain why they couldn't see it, and why I can't cough it out. It has been unbelievably distressing and uncomfortable. I'm going to see my ENT doc again in a couple of weeks. The most frustrating thing is that NO ONE will believe I still have something stuck, not even him. I was told it was 'Globus Pharyngeus,' ie, the nerves of the throat playing up. However, I simply don't believe that something this realistic-feeling could possibly be generated by nerve sensations... if he can't find and remove it for me next time I see him, I don't know what I will do. It's just about unbearable.

Anyway, I wish you luck and hope you can find a solution to your problem. Try sipping ice-cold water, taking paracetamol-codeine painkillers, or ask your doc for diazepam. Failing that, try a glass of wine or a hot whisky and manuka honey drink! These rememdies can't get rid of the underlying cause, but they do help a bit. Oh, and extra-strong Lockets are good too.

(Thank you Steven for answering my post too. I don't think I have anything as complicated as Eagle's syndrome. Just apple peel!).

Something called Eagle's syndrome is a possible explanation for this this persistent feeling of having something in your throat. It is rare and hard to diagnose, and it really takes a good ENT to diagnose it. A possible reason for this is having had a tonsillectomy (possibly years and years before).

Again, this is rare, but maybe it helps you. Best of luck!

Stressed, Well, no more than normal!  The strange thing is that it is very localized, the same spot on the left side, there has to be something there!  Very frustrating!!!!!
