Possible problem with pharynx

I recently had surgery for a disc replacement at c4 c5. The procedure was an ACDF. When I awoke in postop my wife immediately noticed that my neck was bulging and would move when I spoke. I was immediately taken back into surgery where the Nueosurgeon discoved that he had nicked my pharynx during the original procedure and air was filling the right side of my neck. He stiched it closed.
It has now been almost 2 months and I am still on a feeeding tube. I have been told that this is a normal side effect from the ACDF procedure and not to worry. I believe the doctor may not be telling me the truth and that this may be due to the nick in the pharynx. Is this possible?

Your situation can happen; a risk of that type of surgery, but not "normal" or "common."  I would be seeking another opinion and concerned.

"A normal side effect of ACDF?"  I think not.  One can have problems swallowing after the surgery because the esophagus, etc are being manipulated/moved when they go through the front of the neck to get to the spine, but a "feeding tube".....not normal.  In my honest opinion, it is the nick in the pharynx causing all your woes.
