Hey,
Have you been taking Pepto Bismol? I have been using the chewables in the past month and work up every morning with brown **** on my tongue and teeth. And so I looked it up online and apparently Pepto Bismol turns your saliva and stool brown to blackish colour. So yeah if you're taking Pepto Bismol thats why and its not an issue or anything, just a side effect.
I should start by saying that I have a bachelors degree in biology, worked for two years as a dental assistant, currently work in a dental laboratory, and am trying to get into dental school. So needless to say, I love this kind of question. Without actually seeing a picture of it, the condition you described sounds like what is known by laymen as "black hairy tongue". It is caused by a fungal or bacterial infection, and is associated with poor oral hygeine, antibiotic use, and tobacco use. I can't say for sure that this is your problem, but It fits the profile. I recommend a visit to your dentist for a true diagnosis. Usually they treat it with instruction about oral hygeine, and sometimes a medicated rinse (usually nystatin). Wth Nystatin you usually are instructed to swish and swallow the medication. It is important to note that not everyone knows that when brushing their teeth you must also brush your tongue and the roof of your mouth. If you are interested to learn more, I found a good article from the Mayo clinic on the subject.

I hope this helps!
i get it really bad when i have a cold, i feel like it's rotting my teeth because they always hurt a lot when i wake up. how do you get rid of it when you wake up? i always have to brush my teeth for like 20 min but i wake up 6-7 times in a night when I'm sick, so i don't want to get up each time. any suggestions?
Have you figured out what it is yet? I have the same exact problem :( and have had it for a very long time.. I want to say its related to drinking coke. Because I think when I wasn't drinking it.. it went away...
An Ear Nose and Throat.. I got it now. Sorry. LOL
Hi,
I would go to an ENT and get a better diagnosis as to what is going on.
