For the past couple of years, about once a month, I get completely disoriented and have to lay down (if I do not fall). The world spins like a top and before long I am vomitting. It usually last 30-45 minutes and disables me for hours afterward. I have been through every test available, through 3 ENTs, I have modified my diet to lower salt and eliminate caffeine (I don't drink alcohol or smoke/use tobacco), I have severe tinnitus, in my left ear only, and minor hearing loss in the same ear. I am now taking hydrochlorothiazide (both for moderate hight blood pressure and to lower my water levels for the inner ear), and gabapentin for a neck spine condition (unrelated to the vertigo). My PCM states I am "suspect" for Minear's Syndrome but has not made a clinical diagnosis as of yet. Bottom line is I am trying to find a way back to normal. My work requires me to get up into high places (aircraft mechanic) and this condition is keeping me from my work. Anyone out there with ideas?
