ETD, Flying and how to deal with it? Anyone else with similar problems etc?

Hi, posting as I would love some help regarding my problems. Basically I have been suffering with chronic ear problems for about 2 years now, constant doc visits, numerous ear infections and have been to see an ENT, only to be sent away. I suffer with severe allergies and sinus problems, which I have been told is the reason for my ETD, so I have been given 120mg allergy tablets on prescription, steroid nasal spray on prescription and an inhaler (allergy relief).
This year has been the worst so far, my allergies have flared up massively as well as a horrible head cold and a double ear infection and I just cannot seem to shift this cold! Been left with bad catarrh, clogged ears and stuffy sinus'.
My problems have caused nothing but tears and pain, as well as anxiety for flying! Which I have a holiday booked this year, so you can imagine my anxiety building up to the plane journey - It is making me not want to go!!
Just wondering if anyone else suffers from similar or the same and how they manage coping with it, what helps etc. Also how to cope when it comes to flying? *Boiled sweets, chewing gum, valsalva manoeuvre doesn't work either...
My docs and ENT have basically said its something I just have to deal with as it is allergies etc. But it feels like a never ending problem and when it flares up, it flares up! The pain is unbearable. Sometimes I find that if I lay down flat on a night, I wake up with muffled, blocked ears which take ages to 'pop', so I have resorted to laying propped up...
I honestly don't know what to do as it is driving me insane... I don't know anyone else with a similar problem/issue either so I feel like I don't particularly have anyone to speak to regarding this, as I feel like I annoy people by moaning etc.
If anyone has any ways to deal with it or any remedies that could potentially help, I would love to hear from you!
Thanks
