blocked ears

I have had a cough and blocked nose for 4 weeks now.  Have been to the doctors who said it was just a viral infection, and gave me sudafed to take for 3 days.  After taking that,  I got a full blown cold, runny nose and the cough got worse.  Went to the doctors again, have now got a nasal spray and cough medicine to help me sleep at night times.  Nose is now blocked again.
Woke up this morning and now have blocked ears.  Its really is not a nice feeling.  Have been looking up lots of different wibsites and to my suprise it is common, but not sure what is the best thing to be taking to help.  I can not hear properly and am shouting all the time, the kids think Im mad.
Can anyone give me some advice.  Cant really take sudafed as Im on blood pressure tablets.  So very limited on what I can take.
Thanks

I just went through this too. I posted about this problem in Dec/Jan somewhere.
Thought I would be deaf for good. Tried sudafed, cleaning my ears with hydrogen peroxide, nasal sprays, and everything else. Nothing worked. Woke up one morning and it was gone. This lasted for about 6 weeks or so for me.
I have since talked to about a dozen people in town that just went through this as well...it must have been viral. Nothing, but time, worked for them either.

I would definitely try acupuncture.  It works for me.

Go to an ENT immediately.

I had a cold, woke up with a plugged ear, and now have permanent hearing loss and tinnitus because I waited to see an ENT. I have idiopathic nerve damage in my left ear which COULD have been caused by a virus. The sooner you can get on steroids, the better the chance that you could NOT lose hearing.

It could be wax, it could be inflammation, but it could stay that way. I went to a regular doc who prescribed decongestant and nasal spray, and because I waited to see an ENT, I am stuck like this.

Get an exam and an audio test. Better to be safe then sorry.
