dizziness

good morning
I have an issue here
3 days ago while in bed sleeping I was awakened by feeling very dizzy, it felt like my inside of brains were spinning
also have a weird noise or sensation in my right ear
it has happened now every night since , however only when I lay down
I do have a history of vertigo, but it has never been like this before.
this was something that really scared me
has anyone had this type of symptom happen to them?

I have been doing the Epley, after finding the description of BPPV on this site.  I've also been sleeping on two pillows and avoiding the "bad" side.  After my first two episodes, I have been doing much better.  So far no new episodes and my day groginess has subsided some as well.  Thanks for all the help and suggestions.

Look up "benign paroxysmal positional vertigo" (BPPV) and see if this sounds like you. (This is for the original poster. "Howman," your case is different!) If so, there is a quick and easy cure called the Epley maneuver. You'll probably need to see an ENT who knows how to do this (call their office and ask). Any vestibular therapist will also know how to do these maneuvers.

IF (note the "if") you have no neck problems, you can try the Epley yourself at home (although different maneuvers may be needed depending on the type of BPPV, in which case you'd definitely need to see a professional). See expert information and the procedure at

Good luck!

What you are describing fits to a tee the situation I have been finding myself in per post created a few days ago entitled "Clogged right ear...then vertigo in a few days".  I will bring that post up and add comment.

yes, this happened to me.  very scary.  two nights now.  wonder if it's dehydration, low blood pressure or anemia.  Afraid to go to a doctor for a battery of tests, but afraid to have it happen again.  Did you ever find out what caused yours?
