Yes, a flu and cold can cause a temporary hearing impairment by virtue of the fluid collection in the middle ear. Allergy too.
A sensorineural impairment may stay on...
Wish she gets well soon.

So you are telling me if she had the flu or a cold that could have caused the right ear to have hearing loss. She has a cough and runny nose and he told me he thinks its allergies and so she is going to go for allergy testin 2 weeks. He wants to check her hearing in 3 months.
In May, Right side was Within Normal Limits, Left WNL with moderate (?) notch at 1Kilo Hertz (1000 cycles per second)frequency. (Meaning there was a dip from normal at this frequency in the audiogram - a graph showing the hearing at the various frequencies.
Now it was: Right: Slightly retracted -May mean the right tympanic membrane is retracted slightly; can happen in situations where the ventilation tube or Eustachian tube- connecting the middle ear to back of the nose is blocked, as in a flu.
Left side ear shows (probably in audiogram) sloping to moderate rising to m (??)
Tympanograms (measurement of the air-pressure, presence of fluid, continuity of the minute bone chain inside the middle ear etc.) slighlty (?affected)
Fragmented details, but it may mean there is a sensori neural hearing loss in the left ear. As such there is no treatment available for SNHL. One may give steroids as salvage, if there is no contra-indication. One wonders what caused it. Did he have a viral fever recently?
The doctor may want to see him frequently?

In may they have the Right wnl left wnl w/a mod notch at 1khz When I took her acouple days ago they reported both slightly retracted Rightrising to normal SNHL The Left mild sloping to moderate rising to m. Tympangrams slightly.
This may be an unusual case and may be he is waiting to see what is happening to decide upon management.
If you have the relevant records, can you try to post the same in the forum?

We did see an ENT and he is the one that doesn't really know what to do.
You have to meet an ENT. He will do the necessary investigations to evaluate and advise you.
The child may require amplification of the sounds going into his ears; meaning a hearing aid There are various models with different facilities. It is difficult to comment without knowing the details.
