swallowing issues

Hi,
Im not sure if I am posting in the right place. But here goes....I do please ask that you have patience:

To the point....at the moment I am having lots of problems swallowing. It is really stressing me out. I have trouble swallowing my saliva as well as food. I feel like I have a lump in my throat and that I really have to push and make an effort to pass saliva and food.

Its not something that has just happend now. In 2007 I also had some issues and went to the ER, the doctor had a look, asked me to swallow and drink water and said that it was normal. He asked whether in the end I could swallow and swallow my food and I said yes, I had issues but in the end it went down.

Then it has always been there on and off more and less severe. I also went to my normal doctor after at another time and was sent to the ear, nose and throat specialist who had a look and put a tube in my nose and down to my throat (I think). He said everything was normal but asked me to swallow and said I was making more of an effort. He sent me to other specialists but because I had to leave the country I didnt go.

Now Iam going through another bad phase and it feels like I have to make a real effort to swallow my own saliva and when I eat I get real stressed that I am going to choke as its difficut to swallow. I havent choked or anything but its stressing me out.

Basically I dont know whether its something medical or if it may be possible that its only anxiety...thing is I I dont think I feel stressed.

I know I have to go to the doctor....but I am not living or working at home, I live in another country so I have to wait 3 months till I go home in July to go see the doctor. Will it be okay to wait that long?

I have trouble swallowing and when I think about it it gets worse...sometimes I have to twitch my leg or something to get the saliva or food down.....Its stressing me out.

Anyways what do you think and what could it be......Any advice and info please share...

Hi, like your doctor has suggested your symptoms could be due to a throat infection. Throat infections are most probably streptococcal or a viral infections. Strep sore throat needs to be treated with an antibiotic as strep is a bacteria. Viral sore throat is best treated with rest, warm oral fluids and  (OTC) tylenol (acetaminophen) or ibuprofen for pain. Ensure to complete your antibiotic course and do salt water gargles for further relief from your symptoms. Take care. Regards.

Hi, went to the doctor who said I had a throat infection. He´s given me antibiotics and antihistamines as well as a solution to gargle with water and salt.

I think I have post nasal drip....I feel like I constantly have to swallow and I see like white strips stuck to the back of my throat and they go down as I swallow. I aso have a taste in my mouth.....

Anyway Another symptom that I have is problems going to the toilet....I have loads of mucus when I go.....

I know I have to go to the doctor for a full check, but I live away from my home country and I am going to go in summer when I return.

Does all this sound like it could be something dangerous and really bad?

Thanks.
