I started the 30 day ab challenge 8 days ago and I can already see that I'm losing weight. I also stopped drinking sodas. I drink water and sometimes cranberry juice but I delute it with water. (Half water half juice) and if you can stop eating sweets and stuff like that. It's hard but it will be worth it later on. Hope this helps.

Diet is important, but some people get way too focused on it and this can sometimes turn people away from fitness.  What you should do is mainly focus on your 30 day ab challenge, but each day cut something out like dessert or an unhealthy snack.
Then cut out bad drinks such as soda or sugary stuff. I personally went off of soda as a bet for against my friends and after a while I didn't even want them.  If you deprive yourself of certain things after a while, you won't even really acknowledge them as a craving.

It just takes a lot of discipline, and you have to be willing to take it to the extreme! Diet is a major factor!! Avoid deep fried foods, processed foods, refined foods and foods high in saturated fats. Eat foods that are nutrient-dense, high in fiber and low in fat, eat lean meats, low fat dairy, whole grains, fruits, vegetables, seeds, nuts and legumes.
No liquid calories. If you want to get a six pack in a month, then no useless calories in the form of alcohol and at your age I'm sure you aren't drinking alcohol! sugared beverages like soda, sweetened teas and coffee drinks. Instead, drink water, as it hydrates the body and has zero calories. The Department of Agrgriculture recommends that women consume 2.7 liters a day and men consume 3.7 liters a day.
Instead of just working the upper abs, do exercises that do the whole core in order to promote equal dimensions . Some exercises include leg raises, jacknifes, Swiss ball side crunches, side bends, Swiss ball crunches and hanging leg raises. The Swiss ball will use more ab muscles. Do each one of the exercises consecutively for 15 to 20 reps with no rest in between. Then take a 60-second break and do them all again. Repeat the whole circuit four to six times.
Perform cardiovascular training three times a week every other day. Some examples are running, biking, stair stepping, swimming and rowing. Do 45 to 60 minutes of cardio in an interval format. For example, after a 15-minute warm-up, do 15 30-second sprints with 60-second rest intervals in between, then finish with a 15-minute cool down.
An example do your cardio on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Do the ab exercises on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. On Sunday, go for a light jog or bike ride for a minimum of 30 minutes.
This is an intense workout, you need to get enough sleep for proper recovery. It is during sleep that the body releases hormones and goes into repair mode. You need eight to nine hours of sleep a night.
Wear ankle weights and hold resistance in your hands such as medicine balls, dumbbells or weight plates.
When you do your ab workout, start out with a 10-minute warm up of jogging, cycling or jumping rope, and finish with a 10-minute cool down the same way.
Make sure you get the OK from your doctor before doing anything!!
