To lose weigh you have to burn off more calories than you eat. By only burning off half you will just maintain your weigh
You run the risk of your body eating its precious muscle for enery if you eat too far below you calorie target, especially if youre eating under 1200 calories. The body needs at least that just to breath, pump blood, etc.

For a 2lb weight loss subtract 500 calories = 1,739
I follow a low fat diet of 1,300 calories. I have to subtract 200 calories of that for my milk allowance which leaves me 1, 100. II have 2 pieces of fruit daily which is 100 calories = 1,000 calories left for food.
There's lots of low calorie food to make up 1,000 calories & I'm always full at the end of each day.
I go to the gym 5 times a week & burn off 500 calories which adds my total to 1, 500 worth of calories. I never use these spare calories as I'd like a 3lb weight loss every week.

Yes it's possible as long as you stick to it everyday.
I'm similar to you, my calorie limit is 1,100 & I also burn off 500 cals at the gym.
My goal is 27th Sept for a holiday.
