3 year old daughter with hyperopia

Hi.  My 3 yr old daughter was first seen by an ophthalmologist when she was about 1.   the Dr was not overly concerned with her 1.0 at that time.  She had a follow up visit with another Dr today and was 3.0. This Dr wants her to wear glasses.  My questions:  since she went from a 1.0 to a 3.0 - does this mean her vision is and will continue to get worse?  Is it possible this will improve on its own?  Are glasses 100% necessary and/or the only hope for correction?  And will it ever be possible for her to have normal vision with or without glasses?  And lastly, did the fact that she was 6 weeks premature cause this?  As I am sure you can tell, I am a bit freaked out that her number changed so greatly for the worse...

Thanks so much!

Most of the answer to your questions are unknown.

She needs to get glasses.   This is not related to prematurity.  It usually leads to near sightedness.

Is there any harm in waiting 6 months to have her re checked? I can't seem to find a definitive answer about whether glasses make it more or less likely that her hyperopia could be corrected permanently.
