1. While it greaves me to say this people can and do sue doctors in every state in the union including Michigan. You are wrong on that.
2. Any type of IOL including crystalens can be removed, almost always done as part of an IOL exchange. Usually an spheric monofocal IOL is put in the eye and the person wears glasses, no line bifocals, all or most of the time after surgery
3. Get a third opinion. If he/she agrees with your second consultation than I would believe them and follow their recommended course of action.

i posted yesterday on this forum concerning cataract surgery in both eyes and the implantation of crystalens (under chickenpotpie). I am at the point of quickly running out of options except trying to live with highly compromised sight. My surgeon offered Yag surgery to clean up the fogging vision and then another Yag surgery to remove scar tissue he says is around the lens. I had a second opinion and they disagree with diagnosis and see no scar tissue. We have a no malpractice law here in Michigan and I have invested over $6000.00 so far in out of pocket costs. This does not count all of the expenses I will occur trying to improve my near vision which is totally useless up to 24" of my eyes. My sight has greatly affected my personal and professional life. Do I have any recourse in any form. Of course I would gladly pay twice the cost just to have my sight returned. I am told these lens can not be removed which is what I would opt for since they don't seem fixable. Besides no near vision I have night blindness and high light blindness even with sunglasses on. I can only see close if I wear reading glasses and they do not always help if the writing is close to my eyes and small print. All the promotion of these lenses push them as the best gift you can give yourself and I fell for it. Now I walk around with high anxiety, fall a lot because of low vision and don't care to take part in life as a whole. Do I have any hope of improved vision. The doctor says he is sorry but does not feel he owes me any monies back, Bausch and Lomb say they checked and found my lense batch in production are showing no problems for other patients. If they can't remove them then I see no chance of proving the lenses or doctor to be faulty. Do I have any recourse in any direction? Do I have any hope of removal or improve sight? Thank you for your time. deb
