I recently (Nov) had cataract surgery in my right eye ( near sighted, astigmatism in that eye). I had a tecnis implant to correct near sightedness. Tecnis was suggested because of I found night driving difficult. Results after 2 months are not optimal, I have improved vision up to about 7 feet away; however I need glasses for watching TV, reading signage at the grocery store or fast food outlets, street signs,e.t.c.. ( I eventually went out and spent 500 on new glasses and sunglasses.) Are these typical results? I felt after consultation with my doc that my vision would be much better and I would use my left eye for up close reading and my right for distance and be relatively free of glasses. Was I too optimistic? Are implants an imprecise form of correction? Are all implants equal in terms of having limited vision correction? Will the Tecnis improve night vision if it is only fitted into one eye? At this stage I have not scheduled any surgery on the mild cataract in my left eye.
