Are my eyes diseases curable?

I just want to know if my eye diagnosis are curable or are my doctors going to just have to treat me for the rest of my life? I know cataracts can be removed and there is also laser barrier surgery and virectomy and macular pucker surgeries but the Cystoid Macular Degeneration and the Degenerative Myopia, what do they do about that? Are they just going to keep treating the symptoms of these eye diseases or can they be cured over time? I just want to know if I may be facing blindness eventually (even if it is 20 years away). It sounds crazy but there are tons of things I still want to do and see. The fact that my vision seems stable but is constantly blurred and doubled makes everyday hard to function in. I feel like I took being able to see - all these - for granted.

She looked me in my eyes and told me that she was in it for the long haul - no quick fixes - and that her main goal was for me to have my vision for the next fifty years.

I took that as I am going to have these ocular diseases forever and the Retinal Specialist will deal with the symptoms (ex: retinal holes, retinal detachment, etc) as they arise so that I don't experience complete vision loss.

I got the feeling that since I'm only thirty, she didn't want to have me feel like my vision outlook was bleak.

Physicians don't have crystal balls. We cannot foretell the future. We can sometimes say "this is what useally happens" but patients often hear "this is what will happen to you"

Only your eye MD that has looked in your eye and has your history can tell you "what usually happens) or give you odds about future changes.
