I have cataracts in both eyes, but only having surgery on the left at this time. There's a big difference of power between my eyes (given numbers 13 and 6) and already understood I've very nearsignted. I've worn glasses since Kindergarten. My options are standard cararact surgery, and wearing bi-focals as I do now; or going with a toric for distance and wearing a contact in the other eye and then non prescription reading glasses. It's very temping to go with the toric, but wondering if afterwards I would be happier with the standard iol, and my glasees, sort of business as usual, rather than what sounds like a drastic change with the toric. Either way I won't be able to toss the glasses which is what I had first hoped for. I'm 59 and have never had good distance vision, even with glasses. Can I expect more with the toric than I've ever had with glasses? Is the adjustment as hugh as it sounds?
