Black spot in vision

Continuing my earlier thread, that is now closed.  I am seeing the eye specialist tomorrow (the optomerist took a month to book it and only then when I followed up).

This discussion is related to Black spot in vision.

Wow - 2 and a half years and I still have this problem.  My day to day vision doesn't seem to be affected by it so I'm hoping it is just something that will puzzle me for the rest of my (many I hope) days and never become any more serious.  I'll keep seeing the specialist once a year or so though as sight is so important.

Just had a quick look at what pressure phosphenes are.  Being caused by pressure in the eye, is it possible that I would see that same spot with both eyes at the same time?  What are the odds of the pressure issue giving the exact same result with either eye?  And at the same time?

Hi dukey
I haven't checked this thread for months.  Thanks for the suggestion.  I'll look into that just out of curiosity.
FYI - The internet's a big place - remember that first W (in www) stands for 'World'.  I'm in New Zealand not America.

Are you sure this isn't a pressure phosphene? Most docs will not have a clue about this. I have read many threads on here about people seeing things when they blink. Phopshenes are diffierent things to different people by all accounts. An MRI sounds excessive but then this is America!

MRI was all clear, which I'm very happy about.  The specialist wants to repeat the field of vision test in a few months.  The spot continues to be visible EVERY morning.  I might start a new thread just to see if it picks up any other suggestions.
