Black spots

by FRED1, Mar 12, 2008 11:24AM
About once per week when I wake up, my field of vision is covered with a grid of black spots.

They do not move unless I look sideways, then they move with my vision.

Both eyes have the same effect.

Within about one minute of awakening, the dots go dim and disappear.

I am on Lestoretic and Concor to control high blood pressure and find that my blood pressure can drop to 85/55 when lying down and maybe lower when sleeping.

The problem seems to be worsening in that the % area now covered with black spots is mich larger than 2 years ago.

I have conclude that the problem is probably blood flow since it affects both eyes and if this is the case then I am wondering about resultant brain damage

I have been to see a GP who seems to believe that I am dreaming and an opthalmist that says that there is nothing wrong with my eyes but has no further comments.

I am thus stumped as to whether I need treatment and then which type of specialist I should see.

Yor assistance would be much appreciated

I would suggest you see an eye specialist - someone more than your usual local eye dr.  I have eye trouble myself and the local eye dr was unable to see anything - but when he referred me to a specialist, the special equipment they have there allowed them to diagnose me and treat me.

This could relate to a serious problem with your eye. See an Eye MD ophthalmologist. Find one at www.aao.org
