went to a retina doctor? questions, plz help!!

i went to an eye doctor today, he so nice to the point that he takes pic without dilating my eyes per my request (cuze im sensitive with those) and he try to see my eyes without dilating, and he say he was able too, i guess my pupil are bigger than normal pupil.
he use a very bright light shine in my eye, he told me to keep looking left right, down, up, all kinds direction. i think it a scleral depressor, im scare cuze it hard, make out of metal, he use that to press down my bottom eyelid i think, to keep my eye stay so he can shine the lights, now below my eye kindda hurt and little puff up from it, i guess it normal.......it was hard to look in my eye without dilating that is why, dunno, im just freak out, i hope that the hard scleral depressor won't cause permantnent damage later on.
any opinion? comments from the md?

he give me an indirect indirect ophthalmoscope test, which he use the depressor to hold down my eyelid so he can shine the lights in, just wonder if the light were too bright and harmful or the depressor cause me problems later on cuze it hard, he an MD, the place is call Retina Institute of California, i think they know what they doing

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
An condition serious enough to raise the type of concern you have should: 1. Be done by an Eye MD physician and 2. should be done with your pupils dilated.
