Cataract surgery/Diabetic retinopathy

I have diabetic retinopathy.   The catarct in my left eye is getting worse. Its now affecting my vision.  My retina specialist tells me i will know when ive had enough and she will refer me to a surgeon for the cataract.  The risk for me would be for my very stck vitreous gel and the pulling of my retina.   I want the surgery, but fear the risk. Help..

Life is about taking risks.  However the wise person does what he/she can to minimize the risks.  To do that you need the okay to proceed from the retina surgeon, and referral to the best possible, most highly skilled cataract surgeon and the retina surgeon needs to follow you closlely post-op along with the cataract surgeon.
