Cataract surgery using Blue IOL implant set at -2.50

Hi Dr. Hagan,
My script is  RT -12 -3.50  021  LT  -10.00 -0.25  120
My doctor called me tonight to discuss my surgery. He said he ran all my numbers again using various formulas and has decided to use Alcon Acrylic Blue IOL set for -2.50 in my left eye.

He never mentioned a blue IOL before and I never heard of it.  Looked it up
and the article I found said using the blue IOL has negative effects on
Scotopic vision and sleep disturbance and doesn't provide much protection
for the macula.. Can you please tell me more about a Blue IOL and why it's used and what type of vision I can expect with him using a -2.50.  Also how
difficult will it be for me to go from being nearsighted to being farsighted after
68 years  Don't know if I'm up for the change and why it's necessary. I surely don't need Scotopic vision or sleep disturbance.
Thank you for your help and patience.

The IOL is described as a blue light filtering IOL not a blue IOL.  This is why Alcon thinks its helpful:

It's one of many things in medicine and surgery that have pros/cons and a controversial. I don't have an opinion about this issue. Our surgicenter uses Tecnis IOLs.

Sorry I can't be more helpful. You should express your concerns to your surgeon.
