They last a lifetime.
Dr. O.
Having had cataract surgery on both eyes, one in december of 2005 and the other in january of 2006, even though the replacement lens are "supposed" to last a lifetime, that does not however prevent them from clouding over.... I just recently had laser surgery to clear up the occification in the lens in my left eye....What happens is over time, you can both feel and see that something different is going on with your eye.... Colors may not seem quite the same color in that eye, it may feel is though it is clouded over or something of that nature, the same as it did when you had your original cataract...You would need to go back to your doctor that did your original surgeries and have him restest you as this happens in over 50% of the people that do have cataract surgeries though I was not told that at the time...My other eye is now starting to do the same thing, but the eye has to get to a certain point, the same as with your original cataract for the laser treatment to be effective...Was then told that this should not have to be repeated again... hope this helps....lynda
