Choroidal nevus ??? Don't understand the results

I recently went to my annual optometry appointment for an annual exam.. I was recently diagnosed with astigmatism, myopia, and choroidal nevus off disc os 1.5DD.

Should I be concerned about the diagnosis that I was recently diagnosed today? I have never wore glasses in my entire life and will need to get one for distance only.

What exactly is choroidal nevus? Is it cancerous or does it contain tumor?

Thank you

Sorry I meant to say "middle" layer of eye. (layers are sclera, choroid, retina in back of eye).  The likelihood of turning into a malignant tumor depends on size, shape, elevation, coloration, smoothness of borders and whether fluid over it or not. It needs a MD to determine these.

a choroid nevus is a mole in the inner layer of the eye.  My suggestion is hold off on the glasses and see a MD eye physician ophthalmologist for a consult on both the mole and the glasses.

Ask your family MD to refer you or go to www.geteyesmart.org and find and Eye MD near you
