Do shadows go away after a Vitrectomy?

I am 32 years old and I had my first retina detachment a month ago. It was treated with a vitrectomy and inserting of a gas bubble. The gas bubble had almost disappeared when a new hole in my retina caused a fast acting detachment that included a small part of the macula. I had surgery last night and the eye patch is still on. I can see light but I've noticed where the grey/black areas where before surgery- they are still shadowy- it's not the silicon bubble I'm seeing since this is same exact shape as the detachment. Should I still be seeing this shadow? I thought the repair is supposed to fix that? The shadow is rather large and L shipped and I'm wondering if this will disappear over time as my eye heals? If not I'm left with very little vision. My repair was done within 24 hours of detection.

It is way too early to tell you what your final vision should be and since you just have had surgery it is appropriate to ask your surgeon about these. It's hard to generalize about retina surgery because they are so different.

No problem MedHelp.org has been trying to fix that for 5 years without success.  Extremely annoying. If you don't see your post just go to the next comment box and post any letter and the first message appears out of the ether.
