Eye pain 2.5 yrs. after cataract surgery

I'm a 55 yo female and in the fall of 2007, I underwent cataract surgery, did fine with the the right eye. Six weeks after the right side was done, I had the left done.  Post op, I expected I'd do as well with the left eye.  Instead, I had pain with the left eye which continued constantly for weeks. When I saw the Doc 1 day post op to have the patch removed, my sclerae was blood red and stayed this way for a good 2-3 more weeks. My eye stayed inflamed for a month or more post op. Eye pain continued, not all the time, but definitely apparent. I developed opacities with both eyes, had one laser procedure per eye about 3 months after the left eye had the IOL. My left eye has never done well, has continued to be intermittently painful, hurts sometimes a lot more than others.  I have seen 3  ophthalmologists total and nobody has an explanation. I've never had any type of eye trauma, had no infection after surgery, used the drops exactly as directed. The Doc who did the surgery said 6 months post op I was probably having eye pain still because of old blood which had not been reabsorbed. I told the second eye doc what the operative Doc said. He disagreed with his opinion totally. He thought perhaps I was having ocular migraine but said I didn't fit the classical symptoms for this.  I saw the 3rd Doc and he said he disagrees with both opinions, told me I had patches of L eye scarring from dry eye.  From the get go, I told the operative surgeon the day after surgery I felt like my eye had been scoured with sandpaper. I used LacriLube to try and help the situation and by the time I saw the 3rd Doc, he prescribed Restasis which I have used faithfully as directed.  This has made the eye feel better. but I STILL have pain.   I had an IOL placed for distance on the left side and one for close work on the right.   Any ideas why 2.5 yrs. post op, I STILL have eye pain and it isn't getting any better. Where do I go from here?  Thank you.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Try a disposable soft contact lens to correct the right eye for distance.  Some patients have ocular discomfort/headaches with monovision.

Thank you so much, Dr. O.  I deeply appreciate your help.  I wish any of the 3 eye Docs I've seen would have suggested this. My one eye has been overall miserable ever since the surgery was done. I've made an appt. to see a new eye Doc and will share your suggestion if he doesn't mention this.

I deeply appreciate your help. By the operative Doc,  I've been made to feel like I can' tpossibly have and eye problem as described. My surgery was done by one of the leaders in the world, the reason I went out of state. Thank you, again.   Susie
