FOV Floater Only Vitrectomy & Retinal Stem Cells

SUBJECT: 39 YEAR OLD MALE WITH LIFE LONG HISTORY OF MYOPIA
BEFORE CORRECTION: (LEFT: -11.25/-4.25/065. RIGHT: -8/-2.25/120)

EYE HISTORY:

• Left eye: 1998 had a retinal detachment fixed with vitrectomy, a scleral buckle, and extensive laser. Two retinal tears 2000 and 2002. A crystalens was implanted in 2006 due to cataract. I’ve had 3 Avistan injections for bleeding on a scar/ pouch left behind from the detachment on my macula. Vision has stabilized at 20/60, with no central vision. Thick cornea.
• Right eye: 2005 retinal tear, 2009 retinal tear. 2006 Verisyse lens, and iridectomy. Current diagnose with cataract. 2006 unsuccessful laser floater surgery. Thick cornea.
• My right eye is filled with multiple floaters, and the vitreous is extremely cloudy, weiss ring. Although if necessary with eye movement I can read an eye chart 20/20. Floaters do not bother me, but the cloudy vitreous makes simple functions, tv, pc, and reading challenging.

QUESTIONS:
• Left eye: Can anything be done to relocate the central vision to a healthy part of the retina?
• Left eye: Is there any supplements, injections, stem cells, or  medicine, that could regrow retinal cells where the scar is located?
• Right eye: Is a FOV safe enough to be performed to remove the cloudy vitreous?
• Right eye: If a FOV was performed should retinal safe guards also be performed, such as Bubble, Silicone, Buckle, Laser, Cataract Surgery involving removal of Verisyse Lens (PHAKIC IOL) and lens replacement?
• Right eye: Does age effect healing to determine urgency of  surgeries performed?

Your questions about your right eye cannot be answered except by someone that has looked in your eye.

Age is not a factor now. If they pass national health insurance in the US and start rationing healthcare to the elderly then they may stop doing surgery on people 70 or older. That would be a crime since I have not been trained to deny treatment based on age.

Sorry about that. Vitrectomy for Floaters, but in my case it would probably be for more than floaters. Thank you.

1. You are using some central vision, an eye with no central vision (macular hole) have vision of about 20/400. I doubt if macular relocation would help you at all.
2. None available now but research is being done. maybe someday hopefully sooner than later
3. What is FOV?
