I have high Myopia with risk of RD. Is ICL surgery recommended?

I reside in India and have been wearing spectacles ever since i was 10 years old. My Eye power currently is at -8.5D(Sph) -0.75D(Cyl) in the right eye and -8.0D(Sph) -1.0D(Cyl) in the left. I am planning on doing an ICL surgery to correct my vision. I have never used contact lenses.
My right eye has high risk for retinal detachment and i underwent Barrage Laser treatment to treat most of the tears. I didn't know about the floaters and thought it was normal until i went to consult a doctor for ICL. The doctor recommended another check up after 6 months.
Now my doubt is that since i have a high risk for retinal detachment, should i go ahead with the ICL surgery. The doctor mentioned that since its away from the retina and minimal intrusion it shouldn't be an issue and that i will need to check up on my retina frequently no matter what. But with the risks associated with ICL, i am double minded now. I don't want any additional problems, to an otherwise okay eye, that may come up with ICL.
My spectacles have become like a part of my body as i have been wearing them for more than half of my life now, with only a few instances of where i wish i could do without them. So is it really worth it or should i just stick with my glasses and go ahead with surgery in the future when my cataracts show up since High myopia can lead to early cataracts. Open to any advice or opinions. It will help me in making my decision faster.

You have answered your own questions. "I don't want any additional problems" and  you are okay with your glasses. ICL risks including infection, bleeding, inflammation, cornea damage, glaucoma and cataract formation. Why take the chance when you're okay with your glasses?
