Hi. I'm a 27 yr old female. Approximately 2 months ago, I began experiencing a flashing light in my left eye. It looks almost like a strobe light. I went to my regular eye doctor who sent me to a retina specialist. The retina specialist thought that I had pseudotumor cerebri and sent me to the ER. I had a CT scan of my brain, which was normal. I was told to follow up with a neurologist. I then went to a neurologist who ordered a lumbar puncture to check the opening pressure of my spinal fluid to rule out pseudotumor. They are also testing my spinal fluid for MS. He said he's testing for MS because my vision issue could be optic neuritis. Well my opening pressure was only 11, so pseudotumor has been ruled out and I'm still awaiting results of the MS test. A couple days after my lumbar puncture, I was the unlucky recipient of a spinal headache. I got a blood patch, which worked for approximately 8 hours before my headache came back. Here is my problem.... Yesterday I noticed my blind spot is larger and the vision in my left eye is really off. Objects appear further away and smaller than they really are. My neurologist has put me on Topamax, thinking that maybe this is a migraine with persistent aura without infraction. I'm going back to the eye specialist tomorrow to discuss new vision changes and have another visual field test. Can anyone please tell me if they've ever had anything similar?! I can't find any answers and I'm miserable. Thank you.
