Floaters/Dots/Heaviness

I am a 20 year old caucasion male.  I am near sighter and wear contacts.  I have been expeirencing a lot of floaters for awhile pretty much every day and a good portion of the day.  Sometimes they look like the letter Y other times just squiggle lines.  Sometimes i feel like i have a lot of "shawowy" dots in the vision. I know that floaters are normal but I am not sure if the frequency that I have been getting them is.  Sometimes they also feel very "heavy".

Some information that may be relevant is over the summer when i was out of college i got in a really bad sleep cycle and would go to bed late and sleep ~11 hours.  Now that I am back in school I have been getting ~7 hours but waking up in the early early morning and the falling back to sleep.  When i wake up in the morning my eyes feel very heavy and take awhile to get adjusted, there is usually an odd feeling in them.  (i sleep on my side so I am not sure if that puts pressure on one eye). I was not sure if some of what I mentioned above could be a result of this.

Thanks for your help

Bad sleep cycles will not cause an increase in floaters. See an Eye MD soon (ideally tomorrow) to be sure you do not have retina tear, retinal detachment, inflammation or infection in your eye.

I would advise you to go see an opthalmologist. Since you have been experiencing floaters for awhile now, but have recently been noticing changes go see an eye doctor ASAP just to be on the safe side. Also, it may be helpful to educate yourself about the signs of a retinal detachment.
Your sleep pattern/habits have little to do w/ the floaters.
