I've had GPC for 4 years. I have not worn my contacts in 4 years (except for special occasions). I have chronic pain and redness in my left eye, even when I don't wear my lenses. I've been on the steroids, the patanol, etc. Nothing works long term.
I decided to explore alternative treatments (acupressure, acupuncture, NAET, BioSet). Through NAET (naet.com) I was able to eliminate and clear allergies to thimerosal (preservative in contact lens sol'n that caused some of my discomfort). I also found that I was allergic to certain food additives and preservatives that caused my eyes to stay symptomatic. Which explains why my symptoms continued even after removing my contacts.
I remembered that 4 years ago, around the same time my GPC started, I got hives for the first (and last) time in my life after eating a taco. My NAET practitioner connected the dots and tested me for additives/preservatives and sure enough, I'm allergic. He thinks it's partly to blame for my GPC. I'm being treated for the additives now, and my eyes already feel much better.
If you have GPC or any other allergy, and traditional meds haven’t worked for you, I would encourage you to try NAET, you have nothing to lose. It's made a huge difference in how I feel. I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel.
I'm interested in hearing what other people (particularly doctors) have to say about this.
