Help? Tips? Something??

I live in Washington on the rainy side of the mountians north of Seattle and from what I know I may have an unknown allergie (only once during the spring I woke up for a week with swelled eye lids). The allergie occured over a year ago when I first moved up north. But during the last month of school I noticed my left eye would get red, but only a very slight discoloration, most days. My father and I went to the store and picked up the only eye drops they had which were for itching and reddening. I didnt have anything come out of the eye (like pink eye does), it couldnt have been an allergie, and it doesnt burn. On rare occations it feels dry and I would put the drops in but it feels worst in the morning causing me to rub it.
So far this has been going on for almost 4 monthes now, during this time period it cleared up when I travelled down to Florida and Georgia but started getting a little red 2 weeks into my vacation. I continued with these eye drops when it felt embarrassingly dark red. this happened about half a week after going to the beach (where I got sand and salt water in it) and continued to stay dark red for about 2 or 3 weeks now in my stay in Georgia. I have been in the pool once while it was red, been to a theme park but haven't gotten anything in it. I've been putting it off and trying the eye drops but they wont work. This all is only in my left eye while my right eye has the whole time been uneffective and the family I have been with were uneffected as well. I do not wear make up and I'm 18, could you please help me find a way to get rid of this reddening before I go back to school? Do you have ANY tips at all? I'm reaching the point of being desprate

You need an eye exam by an ophthalmologist to determine the cause to have the appropriate treatment.
