How do I rid myself of recurring red eye

Hi, my right eye goes really red every six weeks or so. I wore hard contact lenses when I was young for about 10 years. I have also had laser surgery RPK for short sightedness. I have been to several specialists who have said it's nothing to worry about.  But I look like a vampire when I get it. I'm fed up!  I used to put all sorts of cortisone's and antibiotics in it to cure it. However the latest specialist has told me it will clear on its own and it does. However it lasts 5 days and is pretty ugly.  He also told me I had little white spots on the inside of my eye lid. I have realised this time that the trigger was a vanilla body oil which I had been putting on my legs and I then got to close to my eye with. I am very careful with make up. It is also slightly sore when I blink at the conjunctiva. What more can I say I used to think I got it when I did the gardening because often the next day it would go red. However recently I have been gardening and I didn't get it!  It's a mystery please help!  Thanks

See another Eye MD ophthalmologist physician, one that specializes in cornea/external disease. Do not let the techs put drops in your eyes till the Eye MD looks at you. Tell him'/her that you want to rule out dry eyes (the most common cause of these symptoms).

Ask for a schirmer test. Discuss trial (3-4 months) of Restasis.

I do not think that the vanilla body oil has anything to do with this. The white spots under the lid are almost always "concretions" which have to do with tear chemistry not vanilla.
